Another newbie!

Post by 2ndretread »

I will pickup my new to me P-64 next week. As it is used surplus firearm I plan on soaking the gun (less grips) in a container of minerial spirits overnight and then do a real good cleaning and oiling and then wipeoff well. Are there any parts that will need special attention...I'm not as dexterous as I once was with tiny bits and pieces, could be an issue. I have no problems with cleaning most pieces and rifles but breacking down the slide and trigger groups would be a concern.

Took the p-64 to the range today, what a nice surprise. Sent about 30 rounds down range. The pistol was very well behaved. I had no problems with the Brown Bear ammo.

I started with two rounds in the mag and increased the number of rounds until the mag was full. I then did the 6 +1 load. The P-64 never hicupped. I wish I had more ammo so I could work on the double action, only shot single action today. 7 and 15 yard targets. Very impressed with results. I would call myself a fair shot, not a dead eye Pete.

Hope to find more ammo and get back to the firingline.

Any suggestions where to source practise ammo?

Keep an eye on this site for ammo.

Not much out there now cause of all the chicken littles hoarding.
