Trigger guard hinge protrusions

Post by slackone »

Hello!

I don't know if this is normal, but the hinge sides on the frame that my trigger guard attach to protrude downwards a bit right below the hinge pin. During recoil, they tend to bite into my second finger. Is it safe to machine those down a bit without making the hinge too weak?

Thanks.

I would think so. Mine protrudes downward an almost unnoticeable amount. I never even noticed it until I read your post and went and checked. I think the trigger guard pin would bend first. Of course, if the frame did break at that point you'd of bought yourself a new gun since the frame is the serial numbered part that is controlled by BATFE.

Mine has a sharp edge where you are talking about. Plan on hand polishing this edge off, not removeing any more metal than neccesary.
