Hmmm. I'm not enough of a gun-smith to offer an intelligent opinion, so maybe someone else will chime in. Off the top of my head, I'd think that it might be something to do with the sear or the trigger bar, maybe?

Please understand I am getting extremely frustrated with all this. I have enjoyed shooting these. In s couple of weeks, I am driving north to visit with a gunsmith to have a couple of my CZ-82s to be refinished and refurbished. It's a 5 hour round trip. If I find that it will be too expensive to fix these 2, I will be dumping them. I think I've finally learned my lesson to never buy a used gun without being able to test fire it first.

Don't get down. Buying anything used - guns, cars, or whatever - can always be a crap shoot. I don't think that there's anything wrong there that can't be remedied pretty easily.

The part that is frustrating is I am so unfamiliar with these fine guns. And when I call around to gunsmiths I get the "What's a P-64?" There is a lad that has a shop about 100 miles from me that is highly recommended and specializes in complete refurbishment of CZ-82s and cerakote finishes. He says bring'em in, I'll figure it out.

Granted the P64 is not super-common, but if you download a copy of the manual I would think that any competent gunsmith should be able to figure it out. And parts are readily available on gunbroker.com from a fellow in Poland.

I'm gonna provide him with all the sources that I know and refer him to this site. What little info out there, found on YouTube was a guy that referenced that if the extractor was caught in the slide, it "Is hell trying to get it off and he needed to use a leather bound hammer" We shall see
