What is the Most Favored Wolff Recoil/Trigger Spring Combo?

Post by Cooper »

My P64 arrived this week, as well as an assortment of ammo. Soon my Wolff springs will arrive. What have other P64 owners found to be the best combination of recoil and trigger springs to use? I plan on taking it to range "as is" to get a baseline on how it shoots and then change out the springs.

Thanks!

I am a new owner but from reading a lot I am hearing that only the hammer spring needs to be replaced and most are reccomending a 17lb. I have one ordered but I still don't think it can help the DA.

I installed the 18# hammer spring and the 20# recoil. If I had it to do over I would have saved the money on the recoil and I would have gotten the 17# hammer. I see little if any change in the recoil with the heavier spring, as for the DA it is a lot better with the 18# and I believe it would be even better with the 17#. Watch the SA with the liter springs, mine is real soft, if I'm not careful I will pop off two round at a time. If I have been firing one of my other guns, I will forget to hold the trigger back until after the recoil.

I installed the 20lb recoil spring and 17lb hammer spring. I like the hammer spring weight very much, it made the DA pull useable. But others here have reported some problems with the mag falling out after the last round is fired using the 17lb hammer spring and it seems to be gun specific. I am happy with the 20lb recoil spring. It hasn't been a huge help with taming recoil, which I never thought excessive anyway, but it gives me confidence that with the extra stiffness that maybe I am reducing the amount of recoil induced frame battering. That's my 2 cents worth. :hi:

Remember that you should lightly square off the ends of both springs so they fit better into the postol.
