I got my P64 about a month ago, i put the rest of the 50 rounds of brown bear fmj's through it yesterday, don't have any problems with cycling etc...i did notice yesterday though pulling back slowly on the trigger in double action/hammer not cocked the trigger hung up once or twice...also i'm concerned with the safety de cocker...it doesn't work. It will work after cycling the safety 3 or 4 times, i'm going to order more ammo and try to break the gun in a little more by actually shooting it and get some snap caps to cycle it and dry fire it that way seeing if it will "break in" some...also i cleaned it down with brake parts cleaner field stripped and lubed up a little with rem oil. After i get another 50 rounds through it i'll get back on here and report if it's any better with the safety and trigger pull. Besides those problems it's a cool little gun, more accurate (alot reallY) than my lcp..but right now i don't trust it to carry it.
Also any suggestions to what kinda paint or what to use to paint the safety red dot back on..mine came with it...gone...it's not red...can't really see any sign it was red before but it should/would of been right?

You may end up having to invest in another disconnector if yours is possibly worn too much. A lot of folks, including myself, just use red nail polish to put the dot back on the indicator spot under the safety lever. Good luck and welcome!

I have seen them with and w/o the red paint on the safety.

Forgot to mention my gun is a 1977 model....how long did.they make them? Why's the newest version anyone's seen? The older ones "worth" more.?

I use model airplane paint(enamel?), the kind that comes in those little glass jars. Look f/the brightest red you can find & clean the indented area to be painted on the slide really well (several times) w/alcohol on a cotton swab prior to painting. Be sure to let paint dry overnight & then re-oil the area. It's worked f/me on several old pistols, including a very early 1945 Walther P-38. Yeah, I believe in ammo. As much as I can carry."

Well guy's, I don't see why you need any kind of dot on your sight's, that is unless your going to use it for target shooting only. This weapon as far as I am concerned is a combat weapon, and when in combat, it is draw, point, usually from the chest area and fire, there will be no time to be sighting in, I say this from experience, being a retired "cop," of 28 year's on the job. But than again I could be wrong, but I don't see how. Please. don't fore get to duck when in a combat position.

Frank, they're talking about the red dot that is under the safety lever. There is a shallow circle here for paint to sit in to make a red dot. No one mentioned the sights.
Also, I do put paint on my front sight. I use a nice, bright orangish-red so I can acquire the front sight better. While you may or may not sight the pistol in a "combat" situation it does not hurt either and may actually help, it certainly cannot harm. To each their own.
I don't think I've got to tell you welcome to the forum, so WELCOME!!

I do the same thing with Aircraft Enamel on my older guns. can easily be removed when/if necessary but makes the front sight easy to see in these close to 73 year old eyes. Have to have some advantages to outshoot the youngsters!! Dave_n
Re: New Owner...Slight Problem/Concerns
Unless I am so close that a hit is guaranteed I use the front sight as is taught by "FRONT SIGHT" one of the major training facilities.
