I ordered an 18# recoil spring from Wolff and it "fits" and works fine. "Fits" is in quotation because when I use the recoil spring it's a pain in the neck to get the slide on, BUT it WILL go on with a ridiculous amount of force.
Is this normal or do I need to break it in? Maybe a bad spring? Idk...
I just put the stock spring on for now, I couldn't tell a difference in recoil anyway. How does the 22# spring work for y'all?

Re: Wolff Recoil Spring Fitment Problem
The tight end of the new spring isn't ground flat like the old, check them out.
Peeps have been grinding the new ones flat that have assembly problems.

I have the 22lb on mine and can get it off and on w/o having to grind the end flat.
Guess those Wheaties I eat every day give me an edge

Even though the #22 spring makes it harder to assemble and rack the slide, I think it makes the recoil much friendlier.

Will the stiffer recoil spring slow down case launching? I swear the cases land farther away than the target when I'm shooting.

It didn't on mine. It still slings them out like the factory spring did.Hinermad wrote:Will the stiffer recoil spring slow down case launching? I swear the cases land farther away than the target when I'm shooting.

Mine came with the 22lb and they fly pretty good.

Re: Wolff Recoil Spring Fitment Problem
A stiffer recoil spring will keep the action closed longer and let more pressure build before opening, which might chuck the cases just as far or farther!Hinermad wrote:Will the stiffer recoil spring slow down case launching? I swear the cases land farther away than the target when I'm shooting.
Or not. I dunno.

Re: Wolff Recoil Spring Fitment Problem
I think I'm gonna order the 22# recoil spring and do this. The 18# seemed worthless since I can't tell a difference in recoil so I went back to stock. I guess I'll keep it around as a spare now.
Re: Wolff Recoil Spring Fitment Problem
18# is stock factory spring.

lwb64 is correct, 18# is factory spec.
