P64 Re-Assembly Issue

Post by stugacz »

I received my P64 yesterday (my second one...stupidly sold first one) and after field stripping it today found myself with this dilemma:

The flat trigger spring (on the right side of the frame & shaped like a hockey stick) popped out. I removed the grips to put it back in place and discovered that there appears to be no (obvious) way to keep it from sliding down and away from the sear. Said spring at the rear (hammer) end has a "key way", but I can't determine where it goes or what fits into it.

I have tried various ways to re-install it...without success. I do not have a clear "explosion diagram" in my possession and have unsuccessfuly lokked for one. Before posting I looked around for another post on the subject and did not find any. I am relatively new here and don't want to "double post".

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Not sure what part you're talking about... give these a try.

Well the files posted in response to my question provide me with much more information than I had, good information that I will surely use. I certainly do appreciate it.

The part in question that I am having a terrible time with is the "Trigger Bar". It is number 21 on the parts list. It fits perfectly into the trigger through the opening in the frame above it. The back end however, adjacent to the hammer assembly, is "free floating". It just does not look correct, and slides freely in a downward motion if I hold the pistol in shooting position. I can see no obvious way to secure the aft end of the "Trigger Bar" from moving this way.

There is a "key-way" at the aft end of the bar, but I see no obvious use for it. If necessary I will take photos of this area, the item itself and post it if this will help.

BTW the assembly photo sequence was great, but most of it dealt with areas other than the area containing the "Trigger Bar".

I hope I am getting close. Let me know what I can do to clarify my question.

You need to look at pg 51, 52, 53 of the assembly pdf Junius linked to. Read the captions - Troy tells you exactly how to install this part.
