Finally bought my first P64

Post by flyfshn »

I am new to the forum....have been lurking in the background and finally joined last week. Today, I bought my first P64 from a guy on gunlisting.org. It is in mint condition, but only has one magazine, so I will have to purchase another mag. My neighbor is the one that first told me about the P64 and I kick myself for not buying one from J&G when they had them for $150 about 1 1/2 yrs ago! He works at a gun shop and had the gunsmith do a trigger job on his. I can't decide if I am going to try and do it myself or let his gunsmith do it for me. For those that have done it (based on the steps on the forum), did you just replace the spring? When you pull the trigger on his gun, it is super smooth. I already love this gun and I have not even fired it yet!

You'll love it even more after you see how accurate it is! Depending upon your sensitivity to recoil, your hand may be a little grouchy afterwards! :D

I had a trigger job done on mine when I bought it several years ago and it is definitely worth the cost. I think I paid 60 dollars for it. The pull is not much more than my Ruger P85. Great gun, you just need break it in and find out what it feeds. Some feed everything and some won't feed hollowpoints well. You might polish the feed ramp too.

Is it ok to shoot Brown Bear (steel case) ammo thru it?

No problem. A lot of people shoot Brown and Silver Bear. I have shot both. I actually prefer Silver Bear.
