missing slide stop spring. Jamming

Post by shane!comeback »

Hi, I am a new member. I have a 1975 P64 that I got from J&G in excellent or VG+ condition. Before I took it to the range, I disassembled it. In the process of reassembling it, the slide stop spring flung out into oblivion! I put it back together and went to the range anyway. I shot about one clip through it just fine. The very next clips were a different story. Every other round jammed. The clip clips in snugly till I shoot a round, then it seems to drop a tiny bit giving some play. I'm shooting both Brown bear FMJ and Silver HP. Neither one works reliably. Does anyone know if I have a clip problem on top of my spring problem? Also, where can I find a spring? Any help would be grateful. :D I love this little pistol and would hate to have to use it as a throwing weapon....

I know this is a really old post, but I just wanted to let everyone know that Norm's Slide stop spring fixed the problem! Now I haven't had ONE malfunction. Thanks Norm for the fast and generous service!
