Recoil spring install question

I don't have a grinder so I was using a file. I filed them a lot and it's seemingly flat but the spring still won't go on.

Well after some filing I got the slide on. It's a bit tricky taking it off now and the slide is definitely a bit harder to pull back. I can't wait to take it to the range to see how much this will tame the recoil.

I haven't had any problems with recoil. What is the most common reason for replacing a recoil spring on a P64?

I changed it because I watched / read literature that the original load was a 70 something grain bullet, so by shooting a heavier bullet the energy would be higher, etc. So, that's why I changed mine. I still haven't fired it with the original spring though. Other folks say they changed it due to the recoil and have reported that the gun is more tame. I am sure everyone is different. Some may actually feel a change and for others it may just be a "sugar pill". For me, it was just misinformation / lack of research on my part.

Glad I read this recoil spring install funny it didn't have any extra information.
In the spring kit .
I thought I was doing something wrong after 30 min's of trying to get it together I put the stock one back in it .
And went to the range it doe's have a "little" kick/ recoil to it .
