you carry that thing? I guess I am so used to my P64 that the XD looks like a brick in comparison. I wanted an XD for so long until I actually got to hold one, and then quickly decided against it.

But besides that, I hear they are excellent firearms and they do look mean.

I should take comparison pictures with all of my molds (G19, G26, P2000, M9, etc) so you can see how close it really is.

My XD-40 was my first purchase back in 8/05 and has been a regular in the rotation for carry along with its little brother too.

No offense intended to the OP. but it sure seems to this old-timer and not by any means up on the latest gun styles and innovations, that the XP is a knock-off of the Glock. I own both the 19 and 26, and while they will never win any style awards, they are the most durable and dependable guns I have ever owned... which left me wondering... why didn't you just get a Glock? In my opinion, I say go with the original, as it's usually the best over the wanna-bes.

I didn't get a Glock because I can't make friends with the grip, and it's ultra low bore axis forced me to see the top of the slide when I raise it - not the sights. For me, these are two shortcomings in the design, and enough to be a dealbreaker.

+ 1 with Dick on trying to make friends with the grip on a Glock. No doubt the Glock's are very durable and dependable, but they are just not for me either. As for the XD-40, for me they are to bulky, I have shot both, and if I had to make a decision on either or, it would be the XD-40 mainly again due to the way the Glock fits in my hand, and I think the reason I don't care for the grip on the Glock is because I have been a 1911 guy for over 50 years, at 14 my dad taught me how to shoot a 1911A1 '43 Remington Rand and I have been hooked on the 1911 SA style ever since. I have friends that have Glock's and XD-40's and they really like em, but none of them have both, so to me its a matter of what style we all prefer. truth be known, I really love my all my revolvers, S&W, Colt and Rugers.

About the only double stack pistol that feels real good is the Hi-pwr and FEG clones. I admit the CZ-82 is growing on me though. It has to do with how far the trigger is set back in relation to the grip, it's very comfortable because of my short stubby fingers. The Taurus also is not too bad.

Don't forget, you have an added bonus when going with the XD in .40. The Glock .40 S&W, can not use higher pressure self-defense loads (like those offered by Buffalo Bore), because it has an unsupported chamber; and the Glock also can't use lead cast loads, because of the polygonal rifling. Too many restrictions on a gun, I contemplated between the two long ago and came to the XD side. Feels right, points right, and shoots anything that says ".40 S&W" on the box regardless to race, color, creed, material or pressure. Great firearm.

I recently bought a Taurus PT140 40s&w, haven't had it on the range yet because I'm waiting for my ammo shipment. Anyone fire one of these? Comments?
