Safety sticky

Post by tmcblane »

The safety on my 64 feels pretty rough and can sometimes be tough to slide off, I tried to do a search and didn't find any suggestions. Anyone else have this issue and if so did you get it fixed. Is it a matter of honing the part, special lube?

Have you torn down your P64 and done a full cleaning? When I first got mine everything was kinda notchy feeling. Once I broke it all down gave it a extra good cleaning, felt like a whole different gun. Other than that look for the ware spots on the internals and feel them for any roughness in the metal to metal contact spots. Smooth then out and put it back together. Oh and special lube nope reg old gun oil here using "Lucas Brand Gun oil now" Also "PB Blaster" works well for cleaning everything up and getting ride of carbon and old nasty cosmo. Kinda strong smelling but it gets the job done in a hurry.

when i got my gun several years ago from a friend it was a mess. he carried it a his "bug" on duty and he never cleaned it. i had to take it all the way down and give it a real good cleaning. after that it turned out to be one of my best guns.
