Yep, Norinco, aka Ying An - I was hoping it was the mythical Chinese military ammo I've been looking for. Thanks.

what is the head stamp on your mythical ammo, I found some Chinese looking ammo in 16rnd boxes with a different head stamp once, and I think it's still there

I haven't ever seen any of the Chinese military but I know it was sold very long ago.

It came in 16-round boxes and would probably have a similar headstamp to the Norinco.

The East German 16-round boxes I've seen had headstamps: 78 04

The Russian Military 16-round boxes I've seen had headstamps: 38 87

I'm guessing the Chinese military would have headstamps of 71 XX, where XX would be year of manufacture. My Norinco is stamped 71 93.

Thanks for looking.

Trent! I think that may be the stuff I've been looking for. "81" is a Chinese factory code, and "83" would be the year of manufacture.

You only have one bullet left? Oh no!

I'd certainly appreciate that Trent. I've asked around for about 6 years trying to locate some.

I just bought five boxes of 16 rounds each that were made at the Tula works in Russia. They are 100 gr. FMJ imported by B-West. The primer has a blue sealing stripe and the bullet a red one. Can anyone give me further information? Are they good quality? Recoil? Reliability?

anj, I appreciate the gesture but keep it and shoot it. I would go back and get the rest if I were you. It was not as cheap as some of the other stuff but it is hotter ammo.

I like the hunt for ammo as much as the pistols.. ;D ;D

NB, I am keeping my eyes open for some the elusive Chinese ammo also...

ourbigbluehouse: That B-West ammo is good quality, reliable, slightly high on the recoil meter, and they are corrosive so clean using water.
