How much, sent and delivered, to have you do that?? What does it take to scratch it off, literally?? Be honest....You must have tried or do you trust the manufacturer's hype??? You do beautiful work!!
truth... $112 to strip, degrease, aluminum blast, parkerize, duracoat, lube, assemble, re-shipping included in price.
The finish does not scratch off like chips or anything like that.
Q. Can you scratch it?
A. Yes, very hard to do so once cured (3-4 weeks)
Q. Is it tougher than parkerizing, bluing, or CZ finish?
A. Yes
Q. Does my Sig or glock scratch more easily than duracoat?
A. Yes they do.
Q. Is it the perfect finish?
A. no... but better than anything I have seen so far as of 2007.
Unlike the finishes above this can be redone easily either in a spot area or the whole gun if you were to lets say drop on concrete driveway. It does not chip or flake off if done correctly. In fact it has alot of elasticity and resists scratches. I had holstered my P-64 in a IWB holster everyday (12 hour days) for a month and sweat literally destroyed the bluing on both my P-64 and Makarov. This parkerized and duracoated gun will never rust. It can be used and cleaned in a week but full impact hardness and cure is at 3-4 weeks. If you have any scuffing you can simply use a polishing paste and rub it out. On parkerizing you can scratch the metal/park surface and there is nothing you can do about it easily, same with bluing since you are scratching the metal. I absolutely believe in this finish and it being superior to other black/blued finishes. I did my p-64's, maks, 1911's, M1garand, and will be doing more. In truth I don't believe there is anything better at the moment for overall finish. I know if I scuff my P-64 from dropping it I can simply wet sand lightly the area 600 grit and touch spray and make perfect again. You can't do that with bluing or parkerizing very easily at all or anything as far as I know. The finish I recommend is the HK black semi gloss. I recently mixed duracoat 50% "HK black" and 50% "gun blue" and the color mimics very closely brushed hot bluing. The gun in this thread came to me rough. I ordered it through my distributor and refinished it for tmann11. In person it looks better than the photos. I have no intention of misrepresenting anything. There is no value in that for me. I like doing things for people and doing things right.
truth... why don't you ship me your gun pay nothing and I will do it like the one here and ship it back and if you don't like the quality you don't pay. Im so busy with work its not about the money believe me the time and investment in products and supplies the price would justify doing this.
This is not a living for me just something for me to do to break the stress in my life. Thanks for reading.
