I believe the safety detent spring and the safety detent itself is probably missing which is causing your safety to flop around . I lost my detent spring and detent for a bit and it acted as you described when I put it together without it.

I am new to the site although I am a former owner of a p63 and now own a p64 . I like this pistol and I was replacing springs when the safety detent spring went flying and couldn't find it for several hours , Its back together now and looking forward to the next range session .
