Well, I finally got mine (my first). Its a 1971.
I've taken it apart a couple of times and cleaned it REAL good. It looks pretty good.
VERY tight double action.
Anyoldways...what is good ammo...what should I avoid? I've read the threads relative to this and still don't have a clear idea what to order.
I am leaning towards Sellier and Bellot...I think they are about $14.00 per box. I've always had good results with it in other calibers and guns.
Don't look like there is much around under $10.00 per box.
Ideas?

oddshot,
I've shot Sellier & Bellot, Wolf military classic, MFS+P, and Silver Bear reg & hp. All of these fired consistantly well and accurate through my P-64. For the money I like the Silver Bear, I was getting it for $7 to $7.50 per box till recently. My source has ran out (temporarily I hope) "Aim Surplus"

if your an online shopper, better prices can be found, here's some good websites to buy from, (there are many others, just 2 off the top of my head)
http://www.aimsurplus.com
http://www.centerfiresystems.com
And always be willing to check by any store that sells ammo (pawn shops, ect) you never know what kind of deal you can find.

I like Silver Bear also. Right now I have Winchester 95 gr, Fiocchi 95 gr, Silver Bear 94 gr HP, Norinco, Jing An, PS Grand 95 gr, Wolf Classic. They all work well in my P-64s and other 9x18 pistols.

Silver Bear HP is all that I shoot. The Wolf military classic seems to have a high number of misfires needing a second strike to ignite the round, some times one or two per box.

GR - I haven't heard about problems with the Wolf Military Classic primers before. I thought that the Ulyanovsk Plant was making pretty good ammo, but the fact that you shoot SB successfully says something.. May I ask if you've lightened your hammer spring or made any other modifications?

I just shot some military classic for the first time the other day, aside from the funny smell it functioned fine for me.

I shot 100 rounds of Wolf Military Classic 95 gr today. No jams, no FTFs, no missfires, no issues at all.

It smells nasty compared to Barnaul! Norinco and Ying An smell almost as bad. But I like them!

I like silver bear. I've shot alot of Winchester, it shoots ok but its at $15.00 a box now. Wolf is ok shoots good no ftf or jams. Believe it or not Winchester doesn't shoot as clean as Silver Bear IMHO.
