How DOES one remove polish iron grips?

I'm in communication with Russ, who suggested I heat them. I'm doing so, but it's good to get a second opinion. I got them on, and now I can't get them off.

In Russ's video, he seems to pull on the bottom to free up the part that inserts into the frame, then just wiggles them off easy.

I pull on the bottom and wiggle, and they don't move a micrometer. Further, the compression of the rubber seems to pull the internal geometry right back into place, preventing movement.

Am I missing a trick?

Are you marking sure that the internal geometry releases first? In the video below at 14:31 you can see that he is pushing the sides out at the same time he is squeezing so that the internal geometry does not re-attach inside. If you think it's not releasing maybe try to get your pinky in the well and push the grips out and down at the same time. Or you could insert a shim or something after you've pushed them out to make sure the internal geometry does not re-attach inside again.

I can get them released, but I can't keep them released. I've tried working a shim in, but the downside is it increases the significant compression of the grips.

If I hadn't put these girps on myself, I'd be convinced they were glued on.

Yeah he makes it look easy but I have a hard time removing them to. A lot of wiggling back and forth while pulling helps.

I'm going to be sending mine back, and getting the new model Russ tells me will be out in a month or so. The new model will be open on one side, and as such I suspect will be much, much easier to get on and off.

I have bad arthritis in both of my hands and I can get them off without any discomfort. You gotta get the feel for it is all.
