Is the a way to make the slide easier to move?

Do you have the stock recoil and hammer springs in it?

my P64 is all original, and the slide is very hard to move, I was wondering last night if I have to defend (God forbids) myself is going to be tough.
Thanks in advance for any advice

Try working the slide with the hammer cocked.

If that is works better then change to a lighter hammer spring.

Also check to see that the recoil spring is not on backwards. The tight end goes on first.

+1 to all these ideas and also make sure there is enough lubrication and it's in the right places. Also that nothing is rubbing. I ALWAYS cock the hammer back when removing the slide for the exact reason(s) stated above.

I put the recoil spring the right way but still the slide is too hard to move for an small pistol, is clean and well lubricated

Use a pair of gloves to get a better grip on it when racking.

Take it to the range and see how it functions and give us a range report.

That could give us some better insight as to whether it is functioning as designed.

Shoot it and see if it recoils and goes into battery.
If not there is a problem.

The pistol functions well, I'd taken it to the range a few times a work w/o a problem. My only concern is the racking of the slide that i consider to hard, maybe is the strength of the original springs.

Does it rack any easier with the hammer cocked?

Raulmanny, yeah, it is a stiff pull, both for racking the slide and disassembly, at least for my old hands, but manageable with a bit of practice. Function of the direct blow back design used.
