bullet seat in the chamber

Hello,
I just received my P64. I have seen several videos about the gun and the hard trigger pull, so I replaced the factory spring with a Wolf 18 lb spring. I tried loading a round into the chamber (just 1 round in the mag). I racked the slide to chamber a round. When I racked the slide again the round did not eject. I had to shake the gun to get the round out. I took the slide off and put a round in the chamber and it would not seat in the barrel. Is the the way it is supposed to seat?

What ammo are you using? There was an issue with one Brand that would not let the slide go into battery.

Maybe someone else remembers that post.

Can you show us a pic?

The 18# RECOIL spring should be fine. I'd first try a GOOD cleaning of the feed ramp and especially the breech. Lacquer buildup from all the years of lacquer-coated, steel-cased ammo can cause this problem. Get out yer brass brush, solvent and elbow grease. I think that's a good place to start. (You didn't say which spring you changed. 18# TRIGGER spring should have no effect either way. That's why I assumed you were talking about the recoil spring.)

Gary is right in the cleaning department. Lacquer is not good!
