hammer won't move in DA

Just bought my P64. WoRks perfectly in SA mode. Issue is the hammer will not move in DA if a round is chambered. Trigger Is mega stiff and breaks without moving hammer and just clicks. If chamber is empty..it moves hammer and functions no problem. Even if an empty shell is chambered...it will not work...ANY IDEAS?! Yes the gun is clean.

The only thing I could find was a similar problem for a PA63.

Sounds like it's not going into battery, I.e. the disconnector is getting tripped.

Don't be insulted by the question...but you are using 9x18mm ammo, and not the much more common 9x19mm, right?

I thought that too about the out of battery condition but he says it works in SA.

SUCCESS! After working on it myself for 3 days and visiting a gunsmith..we determined after elimination of several possible reasons that the disconnector would not let the gun go into battery if the chamber was loaded. I took it home and used a Drexel tool to take 1/2 mm off the disconnector and it works every time
now!

So you never really fired this in SA?

Yes I gave fired it SA numerous times already and it worked fine. The disconnector would trip if the chamber was loaded and it was in DA every time.

Yes I do use SA. I want the ability to fire DA for defense. My trigger pull isn't that bad compared to what I have read about everyone elses. Now I gotta wait for a new trigger guard to come in..when I took it to test and shot about 2 dozen rounds..the trigger guard broke at the lug
