Beautiful 1969 U Fix Em (**New Trigger Reset Issue**)

I took a roll of the dice on Century's $129 U-Fix-Em. All it had was a broken trigger bar. Does anyone have a source cheaper than $25 shipped on gunbroker?

I haven't seen another source yet but for the price you will still be ahead of the game overall.

Thanks, I'll buy it and play the waiting game from Poland postal. Could you direct me to a picture/video reference on how to replace it? I've looked for trigger bar and trigger replacement tutorials to no avail.

If you didn't find it here or on youtube not sure where to go next.

Maybe someone will chime in that has done it and give some tips.

Thank you so much! Exactly what I needed to see. It looks a little intimidating (that damn small spring) but will be a gratifying fix once I get it shooting.

So after a few hours of playing around, I was able to take the P64 down and it put it back together.

My current issue: The gun will fire S/A, and D/A only if the hammer is cocked 1/8th of the way back (then the trigger resets). When I take the grips off, it looks like the trigger bar is sliding past the firing mechanisms when pulled. If I put pressure on the trigger bar towards the frame, it will fire D/A.

I hope I don't have to take this damn thing apart again, but it's looking that way. I'll try to take pictures later. I already searched the forums and did not find a problem that was the same as mine.

Thank you in advance for help.

Welcome, 'smoothsoul'!

Starting with an UNLOADED gun, cock the hammer and with your thumb on the hammer press the trigger and slowly lower the hammer, pushing it all the way forward while holding the trigger back.

Then release pressure on the hammer and trigger.

Does your hammer rebound or remain fully forward?

My hammer does not rebound.

If I rack the slide (or cock the hammer) 1/8th~ of the way, I am able to use the P64 in D/A.

I am pretty sure it should, but I am not at home now and cannot check myself.

Hopefully someone can check theirs and see.

Thought so.
The geometry of the hammer strut and the hammer should result in the normal resting position of the hammer to be slightly back from the rear of the slide. This allows for the safety notch on the hammer to engage the sear.

The grip panels keep the internal parts in proper alignment.

wait, when you say "rebound", you mean like the hammer is suppose to move back a bit, kinda like a revolver's hammer moving slightly back when trigger is released?

I tried it on mine, but I dont see or feel the hammer moving back as I slowly release the trigger. I also tried it on my other pistol, a 3rd gen S&W, and the hammer also does not "rebound"
And Ive already shot about a hundred rounds on my p64 with no issues.

smoothsoul, could it be that your trigger bar is bent slightly?

The trigger should rebound before the trigger is released.

Hold the trigger all the way back while pressing the hammer fully forward and then, while still holding the trigger back, release the hammer.

Does the hammer rebound slightly when released?
