I was helping a friend pick out his 1st 1911 andwhile he was browsing I saw an ugly little ppk looking gun with what like was covered in spray paint on one side and actually nice bluing on the other side. I picked it up and loved it. So I told the owner I wanted it. He said he has been trying to sell it for months and no one had shown interest in it so he sold it to me at cost. 125 bucks later I had it in my posession and took ot straight to the range. I knew right away there was something wrong with the double action so I took it to my smith and told make it great. I stumbled upon this site after I dropped it off and found how easy it woulda been to fix and it wasnt actually broken so I called and told him to put new springs in and stone everything out and refinish it for me. Another couple weks and ill have a new ccw piece. Looking forward to learning lots and finding some zee grips.

Oh and I decided to have it parked instead of a re blued. It is a military gun and I thought a good park will look great on it. And a lot cheaper than a gloss blue job.

Thanks for all the welcome messages. Look forward to learning lots. I am in the process of ordering some grips from zee and now I just have to find ammo. Ive never ordered ammo offline. Is it painless? Or is it a PITA?

Buying ammo online isn't too tough, but the savings really comes when you buy in bulk. Check out gunbot.net or one of the other ammo trolling sites to find the best deals. I haven't got a chance to shoot my p64 yet, but my makarov loves everything I've put throug it. Red army standard, Tula, wolf, etc...

On buying ammo, it also depends on where you live. You may have to go through a dealer. That said, I've bought ammo quite a bit online. Sometimes you can get it cheaper on Gunbroker.com too.

Yes check your states laws for ammo internet purchases.

In NYS we now have to have it sent to an FFL01.
