Got my P64 on order will be here in a week
one question is it OK to dry fire it to get the feel of the trigger

Welcome to the forum DW.
IMO it is best to dry fire any weapon with snap caps only.
Why take the chance.

It can be done. I would agree with the other posts that it would be best to use a snap cap. The safety in these guns seems rather brittle. Folks have broken the safety by dry firing but I'd really say it was probably already weak in the first place and possibly would have ended up breaking down the road during regular firing.

Have dry fired many times, no issues or unusual wear. I don't think I'd keep any firearm I couldn't dry fire occasionally, it's no different than having a misfeed while firing...if it can't handle a real-world scenario without going over a cliff, it's worthless to me.
