New here
Well I was in town today, and stopped by Gander Mountain to buy some 12 gauge ammo and just had to stop by the gun rack...... Well I was wanting to get a ccw gun for my mom for a while. So we causally browse through, and she asks what I think is good and I tell her,so she tries out a SW mp shield,a SW body guard,a Ruger lcp, etc. She decides on a LCP. So while she is signing the "Have you ever committed,or though about committing a act of terrorism?" papers I keep looking. I find a P64. It is barely visible behind some SW .500 9 inch barrelled monster. I ask to look at it. Still has so much cosmoline on it I can't read the import marks. Price? $250 OTD for the gun and 4 mags and cleaning rod with hard case. I could not reach my wallet fast enough. So my mom got a LCP and I got a P64. A few odd things., they wanted $300 for a beat to H**l Yugo TT-33 with safety orange grips, and when I asked if they had any 9x18 ammo, they kept asking what 9x18 was and that they did not carry "special uncommon rounds" . Also I asked jokingly if the "Rick Perry special" LCP's were selling good, the guy said that since they got them they sold 2,they have sold over 100 LCPs in that time. They said that they where going to start selling them at $100 off just to get rid of them. Anyway here are the pics,100% bluing, factory new, made in 1975. What do the guru's think? Did I do good for a 15 yr old?(I'll add photos when I figure out how) Also what poundage recoil and hammer spring combo work the best?

Re: New here
Welcome to the forums, yea good deal bro.
I would suggest shooting it with the stock spring to see how it works for you.
Then decide if you want to add heavier springs.
I have the 22lb recoil spring and the 17lb hammer spring.
You have to really clean out all the cosmo in every part or you may have some issues.
Let us know hou you make out.

That’s kind of odd that they said they don’t carry "special uncommon rounds". When I bought my Nagant revolver from my local Gander Mountain a couple years ago they had several boxes of Fiocchi in 7.62 Nagant on the shelf, $49 per box but they had it. Since they sold their last Nagant they haven’t restocked it though.
I’m in the process of buying their last P64. When I put it on layaway they had 3 boxes of Blazer in 9x18, when I made a payment on it last week they were down to 1 box. It will be interesting to see if the restock that.

the gander mtn. in onalaska, wi carries the mak round. they only have it in blazer and i think the box of 50 was around $28. seems too expensive for blazer ammo. but i wasn't sure where elso to buy it so i bought a box and they shoot good, just really expensive.
