Hi there, P64 from Aimsurplus on the way

Hello everyone,

I just bought a p-64 from Aimsurplus.
I also bought the wolf 16# mainspring replacement.

Since I am all set-up for reloading 380, does anyone sell a .380 replacement barrel?

If not, any recommendation on 9x18 dies? one shot fired brass?

Thanks,
Fred

Welcome to the forum. I am the shy one.

I cut down Luger brass. Simple really. Few others here also do. 9X19 brass is dirt cheap.
I am not aware of any reliable place to get once fired 9X18 Mak Brass. Cutting down the Luger brass is easy. Visit our reloading forum.
I use Lee Makarov dies in a 4 hole turret press. Got a $15 Lee Makarov Factory Crimp die in the 4th hole....but you really do not need it.

I am not aware of any .380 barrels for the P64.....but that surely doesn't mean there are none....I am just not aware of any.

I have a few P-64's. All have 20lb recoil and 17lb hammer springs. I may have 1 that has a 18lb hammer spring.

Hi Fred,

Congrats in advance on your new arrival! I've bought a number of pistols from AIM and have been very satisfied with the condition of every one I've received from them.

I'm 100% in agreement with Sarge - I also trim down 9MM Luger cases and reload them as 9MM Makarov. If you have a decent brass trimming lathe this is an easy job (I just received a new Hornady lathe today, and it is MILES easier to use than the Lee zip trim set-up I'd been using). Once fired 9MM Luger cases are inexpensive to buy, and frequently free to pick up at the range (I have some buddies who are kind enough to give me their brass since they don't reload).

New (unfired) 9MM Makarov cases from StarLine are a little pricier than I like, but they work very well. If you don't want to trim brass, they are the way to go.

I reload with a Lee Pro 1000 Progressive press (3 die setup) using Lee dies. I like using Missouri Bullet Company cast lead bullets, Bullseye powder and Wolf primers. I've also used Berry's copper plated bullets with good results - but again, they are a little pricier than I like.
