I have a 1976 p-64. bought at Gander MT. about 8 months ago. Great size for conceal carry, feels good in my hand, cheap ammo, accurate, reliable gun. I fired about 100 rounds during the summer, no problems. A couple days ago I was shooting, and the clip came out during firing. I recently put in a 17lbs wolf trigger spring, and everything appears to be in good shape.
Any thoughts on this matter would be appreciated!!!! Thankyou.
magazine failure during firing.
Re: magazine failure during firing.
The hammer spring is also the spring that holds the magazine catch. May be too light.

Nate, the 17# spring has been known to cause this problem. Must only affect certain guns. I have a 17# in mine and haven't had this problem but I have read of several folks that have. Some people don't go but to about 18 or 19#. You can try purchasing a heavier spring or just put the original in. As PA said, it is what holds tension on the mag release.

Mine ejects the magazine on the last round consistently with an 18 lbs hammer spring.

That's a good enough reason for me on why not to change any of the spring and keep it all original.

Oh, most anything is worth experimenting with. I absolutely love the 17# spring in mine and probably won't ever go back to the factory one. He experimented and found that it just didn't work out. To each their own.

Guess I should have mentioned that I moved up to a 19 lbs spring and it works great.
