Before ordering from J&G Sales

I ordered a p64 from J&G but the bullet jammed halfway up the feed ramp on both magazines. (Instead of reading all the related forums here as I should have.) They happily replaced the gun and MAGS upon which the new pistol chambered perfectly. So I ordered another p64 (two is better than one, right?) New gun but same problem, so I phoned again. This time the J&G rep asked me to compare the two containing lips on the magazines from the pistol that chambered and one which didn't. He said the older p64s have a 1/16" shorter lip than the newer. The newer p64s will feed either mag but the older ones only the shorter lips. He was right. As the forum guys had already discussed.
So before ordering, be sure to specify the correct magazines for your p64. You won't lose sleep or skin from your hands trying to fit a square peg in a round hole. But first, read the forums

Thanks for posting this. I was just getting ready to place an order. My pistol is a 1968 and I have been having problems with one of my magazines. Sure enough, the feed lips are longer on that one.

Sorry for the noob question- The mag that came with my J&G P-64 was serialized to the pistol. Is that the norm?

All of the ones I have seen are serialized to the pistol, except for unissued magazines.

It is for all three of mine, but I think this was done by the issuer NOT at the factory (this was covered in another thread I can't find).
I bought extras when I got each of my guns and they all had different numbers.

Do you know who it was that you talked to at J&G? I just called to order some with the shorter feed lips, and they wanted to charge me a $10 hand select.

Ask for Andrew or Dee. Tell them the problem. They'll work with you.
