There is no one be all Cleaner or Lubricant as there are no refineries that produce just gun oil. I use Marvel Mystery oil as a cleaner and Mobile One as a lubricant and a touch of moly automotive wheel bearing grease. For around $15.00 dollars you can get a life time supply instead of paying $10.00 for a 4 oz. bottle of the same stuff. Just my applied logic.

With lube since a little is good, more in not better.

i use #9 and just about any gun oil that i got around. no gun oil then i use a 30wt motor oil.

Yes, all that matters is it gets cleaned and lubricated. I use Hoppe's solvent and lubrication. The boresnake mentioned earlier is really a good idea.

You might want to go easy on the Hoppes #9 Solvent. It is ammonia based and will really do some damage to a chrome lined bore like the P 64 has. Copper is used as a base coat for chrome and nickle and ammonia will dissolve it. With a chrome bore and copper clad ammo you really don't need anything as potent as ammonia. Just about any petroleum distillate will cut the residue left by shooting. Marvel Mystery Oil is kerosene with a nice smell and a very potent distillate that will not hurt chrome plating.

I use whatever is in my cleaning kit. The militarys use of solvents and other lubes like breakfree in the M16s really sold me on it's use in my range guns. I do like the Rem oil too. Little white lithium grease on the slide/frame rails goes a long way too.

Expensive but good. The trend of today's gun care products is towards synthetic lubricants. Mobile One has been around for a very long time now and proven to be an excellent lubricant for reducing metal friction. Just imagine how much it would cost to fill your car's crank case with Weapon Shield. It is only a detergent synthetic lubricant as well. Remember, there are no gun oil refineries......anywhere.
