Well I picked up a Hakim 8mm rifle. I have heard how much people like shooting these and I really like the 8mm mauser round so I figured, Why Not?
Any suggestions other than a thorough cleaning, (already did that)

I hear the same thing , the only ones I've seen have been on the web, let use know how it shoots, and pix would be nice, you might want to clean it again to make sure it's really clean, especially the bolt, don't want any slam fires

Get some extra Extractors for it..................Brother had one for a while. Great anti-Helicopter Rifle with some 8 MM API
Stay away from Turkish and Romanian with 154 gr bullets. The pressure curve is too slow and you might have drastic problems :-/

Wow, what a nice shooter. I took several types of 8mm ammo out with me. The Hakim worked on all of them although I really needed to adjust the gas settings on a couple. I am going to order up a gas adjusting tool so I can go through some of the 8mm surplus I have. The action is very different from anything I have used before and certainly will take some getting used to. The semi auto action and the weight of the gun make it very easy shoot accurately. A real pleasure to shoot with the ammo that was close to what the rifle wanted. Some of the ammo we had was a bit harsh for the rifle and unless the gas adjustment cuts down the gases a whole lot it will not be acceptable for this rifle. My Mauser will have to be the one used to consume that ammo.
I will take some pics of the rifle once I get it cleaned up again. Surprisingly simple rifle to take apart and service considering its age.

Took the Hakim to an indoor range today. I don't recommend this unless you just want to upset a bunch of people. One of my friends bought one and is waiting for it to come in so he wanted to shoot mine. The temps here right now are just to unbearable to be outside shooting. The targets on either side of us would swing in the blast from the rifle and the noise was off the charts. Only did 20 rounds but it was enough to let everyone know we were there.
