Grip nut jumped ship

So I had my P64 out to the range last weekend, a group of us braved the cold and snow to go have some fun. Everyone enjoyed the little gun, they were surprised at how much it recoiled and at how accurate it was.
When I got some that night I sat down and started cleaning guns as usual. Got to my P64 and noticed the grip was loose, I figured I'd just have to tighten it down a bit when I put it back together. To my surprise I found the grip nut was gone entirely. I went down to the local hardware store and browsed but they didn't have anything that matched the threads on the screw, nor did they have anything that I could replace the screw itself with (all the screws of small enough diameter were way too short). I really like this gun and was carrying it since I worked out the problem with the slide stop. But now I can't for fear that I'll sit down in mcdonalds and a grip panel will fall out from underneath my shirt. What's everybody else using these days to hold their grips on?
