HAMMER NOTCHES - 1st Variation Round Hammer

To follow-up on my earlier post, my 1st variation also has the 3-notch hammer. 'Not saying that it unique to this variation, but I did test it. Once you pull the trigger and release the hammer to go forward and hit the firing pin, it then rebounds (as mentioned earlier on this site) back to the second notch or "half-cock" safety in the hammer.

I did insert several cartridge cases, with out a bullet or powder, into the chamber, cock the hammer to full and then smack it with a hard plastic hammer. No response, nothing went forward, the hammer held in a safe mood WITHOUT the safety being on! While others might think about this differently, I intend to carry the pistol in that mood so wanted to ensure that mine was in good enough shape, both visually-looking at the hammer notches, and physically-putting pressure on them, to ensure that they were solid and "true."

Norm,

Ah, 'possibly a poor choice of wording (?) by 'Guapo.

I did physically look at my hammer assembly, and it appears to have 3 "notches" in the round part of its base. Yes, it is NOT a half cock in the traditional sense of the meaning. But, the hammer appears to rebound to that second notch after striking the firing pin (and releasing the trigger). The hammer then rests on that notch very securely, until used again - even without setting the pistol's Safety.

'Sorry if I confused anyone, finding the best terminology for this occurance…….

yes it has a rebounding hammer. it should not fire a round unless the trigger is pulled, that's why that most of the guys on this board don't even bother with the safety
