Is there an issue with the P64 safety drum fracturing? My drum fractured inside the slide. 75% will slide out but the other 25% is retained in the slide buy the pin.

Yes, we've seen the safety break in a few of these. Dry firing without snapcaps could contribute to this happening. I've also resorted to lowering the hammer even when decocking just to be on the safe side. As far as extra parts TGI was the only place I've ever seen them. Hopefully some more will come available soon. I'd give Bill a call down there and have him keep an eye out for one for you.
And BTW Welcome!!

Hi coldudley, and welcome!
Would you happen to be the customer from MCS Firearms that I just got an email about?
He has someone looking for a cracked safety as well.
Although I have never personally seen a cracked safety, I agree that TN would be your best bet. If not, posting here would be the next step.

Yes, Sir. I be the person who purchased the P-64 from MCS Firearms. Paul is a good guy and is trying to help. He offered to take it back. However, I do not think a new drum will help as part of the drum is locked up in the slide. It must come out to remove the firing pin and the pin must come out to remove the drum. A catch 22. I think I need a complete new slide. I don't want to work on this problem as it might void any warranty Paul might have with TN Guns and prevent him from returning the gun. I do appreciate all you guys offering advice. Thanks.

Paul is a very good guy. He and I have been emailing back and forth about your gun! I have bought several P-64's from him and they have all been brand new looking. They all look like they just came from the factory.
He already told me he will be happy to replace it for you. I would suggest that you do that instead of trying to fix it. Just make sure you go through an FFL as the replacement will not be registered to you unless you do so.
Glad to be of help!

The P-64 is all packed and will be returned to MCS Firearms. It is unfortunate that this particular P-64 had an issue. I purchased one a month ago and liked it so much I wanted a second. *I told Paul; to replace it with a 1973 or later pistol. I understand that post 1972 pistols incorporate the improved modifications. Thaks to all for your concern and advice.

Paul at MCS Firearms promptly sent a replacement P64. The distributor , Tenn Guns, assured me he would credit MCS with the return defective pistol. It is nice to experience such nice people as Paul and Bill. Too bad parts for the P64 have" dried up".

NO
P-64 parts are P-64 parts. The only exception that I know of is the safety plunger from a Walther PPK that "might" fit. Others have had luck with this, and posted about it. I tried it once because of a filed down plunger. It did not work for me. I went with an original part from TN Guns after that. Makarov parts will not fit in the P-64.
Perhaps Norm will have more input on this subject.
