Hi guys and gals (?) , Just got my birthday present a 1976 P64 from MCS $185 to my FFL .. Gun appears to be in unissued condition .. Baked it to get rid of the cosmo smell and changed out the springs... But I have two questions :
(1) I can't get the gun back together with the wolf recoil spring installed. What do I have to do to it grind the ends flat?

(2) Go for PPK holsters or Sig P230 ? Looking for an IWB...

yes grind the ends flat , with a sand paper disk is the fastest way

There is all kinds of knowledge around here.
I have 2 Desantis IWB leather holsters for the Sig 230. One is open top and the other is a thumb break. Both fit the P-64 very well.
Haven't tried any PPK holsters.

Does anyone know if the wood grips for a p-64 from redstormholsters.com are better/worse same/different than those made by Dennis?

They are Dennis grips.

So wolff doesn't finish these springs? Kinda dumb that I would have to fit them.. Now I need to find someone with a grinder ???

Andrew10736, use a fine file if you have one. Reduce the large end of the spring, it won't need to be reduced much more than a quarter inch of the length, refit it as you go and it won't take long to finish the project. Many don't need to do any adjustment, those that do are caused by minor design changes by Radom through the years of production and not the Wolff springs.

Thanks for all the responses.. Gunny I will try it thank you.. I just got 3 mags from keepshooting.com anyone know where these come from I know they arent factory mags.. Seem well made but I know looks can be deceiving..

I had trouble with a 22lb recoil spring once and after Norm's advice I ground it down. I have since switched to the 20lb recoil springs on my P-64's and they all fit well, except for one I converted last night. That one was a bugger. I was about to grind it when I gave it one more try with the front edge of the slide on the bench. Once I pushed with all that I had, it went together.

I have not had this one apart again yet. I will wait until I fire it and see how hard it is to get apart. If it becomes an issue I will lightly grind the spring.

Remember: When grinding springs it is important to douse the spring in oil periodically between light grinding passes so the spring will not weaken. If you just grind and grind you will take the life out of the spring.

Not all P-64's are perfect and all alike. This is why Wolff makes a "standard" spring.
