Just was about to apply for a CCR. Then I see the BATF hassling some poor guy because his rifle misfired to full auto. He got 30 months in jail! They were so happy they were peeing their pants.
Do any of you guys have this permit? Is it worthwhile or am I just asking for these guys to come visit me some dark night?

For $60 you can get an Arizona CCW permit.
See:
http://www.azdps.gov/ccw/procedures/obtainPermit.asp for the details.
Arizona is an open carry state.
Shouldn't be any hassle getting a permit. I have not heard of any eligible person getting in trouble through the permitting process, not to say it has
never happened.

Hey neighbor! I live in Tucson, NW side, have had a CCW and a C&R License for some time. I have never been bothered by any LEO or Federal Agency. I highly recommend getting the C&R. Mine paid for itself after the first 2 purchases that got shipped to my door. If you want a CCW, I got mine through a class at the Marksman Pistol Institute on Prince and Flowing Wells(?). If you ever want to go shooting, drop me a line.

Hay guys, how difficult is it to get a Curio and Relic license? Is it really worth the investment? I constantly see guys asking sellers if certain items are C&R eligible at the auction sites and the answer is usually I don't know and I will only ship to a FFL holder.
Giving it some thought!

You fill out an application, submit it to the BATF along with a check and copy for your CLEO, they run a background check and if you're clean, you get a license in the mail several weeks later. To answer your other question, it really depends on what you buy and how often. If you're a Glock guy and buy an old Military rifle or pistol once every ten years then the C&R is not for you. If you dabble in the older guns/"curious" guns and get at least 1 a year, then it's worth having because you save on shipping/transfer fees. In order for a gun to be C&R it has to be at least 50 years old or be deemed a curio by means of the BATF. The CZ82 is a great example of a gun that is not 50 years old but is a curio because the government/country to which it served no longer exists and it is a piece of world history. I am sure there is more to how it became eligible, but, that i s what I heard. The BATF has a publication on their web site that outline the laws, regulations, and what guns are eligible. They also send it to you along with 5 billion other pieces of literature when you apply for the license. I hope this helps.

And if you only buy 1 milsurp every few years it can still be worth it as many suppliers like Brownells, Midway, Numrichs etc give you ffl discounts! I've saved my $30 fee (good for 3 years) several times over on discounts and no ffl transfer fees. When you buy a C&R item it can be shipped directly to your home!! No gun store transfers to deal with just your wife ::)
The only requirement is to keep a "bound book"...a log of every purchase / sale of C&R weapons once you have the C&R license.
Buying and selling on the auctions is great. Many say they will only ship to an ffl...well the C&R license is an 03 FFL!
I think it is worth it but that is just my 2 cents. Others will disagree...but they are wrong
