I couldn't stand any longer. With GR's Cobra and Papabear's Balister Molina, I bought my first 1911. $275 from a military store that I frequent. It is very rough, but I have nickel plated before.
I shot it Sat. in my garage into two phone books. Bad mistake. Penetrated both phone books and bounced off the 10 guage plate that I use for stupid times like this one. I found the bullet under my wife's new car. Still has the paper tag. Bondo would have been hard to explain. Ok I learned a lesson, now back to the pistol.
It still has good rifling and plating on one side. the guy at the store said he thoght it spent many years in a holster. I'm very happy with it. I'll post pics when put the camera software on my new computer. Later from a wiser Don

dolang1,

Congratulations, you found a winner in that Argentine Sistema Colt. Nearly every one I have seen the finish was in rough condition, however, it is rare to hear of one that didn't function great. The $275 you paid is a really good deal, as Norm said they usually go much higher, in my neck of the woods if you can even find one its in the $400 range. We would really appreciate those pics...... :)

Hey dolang...you dolang!!! I don't care if you were able to pick it up for a song and a dance...if you kill yourself it really wouldn't matter much would it?!? :'(

Thank goodness you got lucky this time...please learn from that experience and be more careful.

Now as I mentioned to Papabear in a recent post about a great 45 he picked up at a good price...you suck! :P

I can't wait to see pictures, it sounds like you definitely scored with this one. :-*

I finally posted a picture without Himmel having to bail me out.
Thanks Carguy, I have learned a lesson. My boss at work is going to do and intervention if I do anything like that again. He says he needs to at least take my guns for a while.
Don't you think it will look good with a new nickel finish and Dennis grips. Later Don

That will look AWESOME!! You can't make a 1911 or clone look bad no matter what you do to it.

Now a plating is a project I can't fathom, unless you are sending it out?!? How in the world could you do it yourself? Maybe I don't want to know as I can see a few guns I've passed on because I was afraid of the lousy nickle plating and didn't want to spend the case to replate it properly!! :o

That's really a nice one, looks a lot like mine, they are nice pistols, fit and feel in the hand is excellent.
