papabear,
I "feel your pain"; looks like I may have to get a PA-63 for myself. My local gun shop has them for $189 and I can get another dealers license, order for $139 and pay $20 transfer. This is a no brainer as wich way to go. I will be out of town a good bit the next 2 weeks, so it will be after that before I order one.

A fairly decent reconstructed manua for the PA-63 including disassembly instructions, a cutaway drawing, parts list, and exploded parts diagram. It is in PDF.

I got one when the Maks were out of stock adn I thought that there was a chance that I'd miss the whole 9x18 boat. I have had a hard time with some JHP's and it does sting, but mine is reliable with all FMJs and is a reasonable piece. I should, however, add that it hasn't been fired once since I got an EG Mak ... which itself hasn't been fired much if any since I got my first P64 Personally, I think that the CZ-50s and CZ-70s that SOG has now for $149 are a much better addition. All that being said, my PA-64 STILL isn't for sale

I have had several. Light, inexpensive gun, leave in the car when going somewhere you aren't supposed to carry, if stolen, at least you didn't lose the Sig.

I did a spring job on my PA-63 and it turns it in to a nice shooter.
But I also did the same on my PA-64 and put a clip draw on it for summer carry with your shirt on the out side it is the best.

ONAPAR
Have you tried any of the wolff ex. power recoil springs for the PA-63
RECOIL CALIBRATION PAK - contains 1 each of the above recoil springs in 11, 13 and 15 pounds. Three extra power firing pin springs are also included.
Stock No. 13210.....$ 18.79
I have the 9# hammer spring and 13 # recoil spring in mine and shoots great
if Wolff made a recoil spring for the R-61's I think it would be a strate swap over to the P-64

I have commented about the PA-63 before on:this thread.Just today received flyer from Center-fire Systems. On page 16 they are showing PA-63s, Hungarian Manufacture, 9x18, Excellent Condition, Two magazines and a cleaning rod for sale for $139.97
Anyone have an opinion on this pistol?
It's a pretty gun, but mine was altogether unreliable. I traded it for a Bulgarian Makarov and haven't looked back.
