What kind of knives do you guys normally carry/use for whatever (I'm not talking about butter & steak knives)

I normally have a Sog Flash II in my pocket and use the mess out of it

NORM, is that a spring "assisted" knife...we like to call them switchblades around here. And once again they are illegal to carry yet no to possess (play with it in your home only) up her in the People's Republic of Massachusetts!!

I don't always carry this knife but often do. It's a Buck. The handle has a rubber insert that has a good feel.

It is funny how you remember different things that happen in life. I remember sitting in my old gunsmith's house (top floor of his cape cod style home was his gunshop) and playing around with all his cool stuff. He had guns hanging not just from the walls but on the angled ceiling and everywhere! This was in the 70's when I was a pup and he was a very old, partially disabled, retired LEO with his even older retired K9 German Shepard with hip problems wandering around. If you looked at the dog wrong it would growl at you because it was always in pain and seemed to anticipate you wanting to pet it or something... :'(

Anyways one day I picked up a set of grips and a holster for something and was left alone standing behind a counter and remember picking up a switchblade, playing with it and letting it slip in my pocket. Seconds later I felt so guilty that I quickly put it back, bought something else and left.

Your knife, Norm, looks just like it! I haven't thought about that since the day it happened but the memory came rushing back when I saw your knife. I've been a good boy ever since... ::)

I've been carrying a spyderench for six years now. I've broke the tip twice, painted it green once, and have had about a hundred welding dingle berries stuck to it. I replaced it last year with a byrdrench, but I just don't like it the same. Eventually, I will buy another one on Ebay, even though they are selling for 150. It bothers me to pay the same amount for a knife that you can buy a good pistol for. Later Don

Yup, it is one of those mechanically assisted blades...not open / close but in / out... :-/

I've played with one of those before, they are awesome!

I carry a simple Schrade aluminum alloy pocket knife with rubber grips, very light and very very sharp. I also carry a small Swiss Army knife that gets more use than its big brother.

I've been thinking about picking up a spring assist, if any one has a recommendation I would sure be interested in your opinions. I would prefer that it be thin and light and under a hundred dollars if possible.

Is a spring assist exactly what it says...a knife blade that has a spring to make it easier/faster to open? Not a switch blade type mechanism...right?
I too would be interested if the price were right (blade needs to be around 2 1/2 inches to keep everybody happy here in the People's Republic.
