Wishful thinking. I think the high prices are here to stay. About 7 years ago or so, the Federal bulk pack .22 ammunition cost $8.97 at Wal-Mart. Currently it is $18.97. It wasn't a sudden change either within the past year or two, it has steadily been climbing every year in those 7 years. It's just the times we're living in. Ammo won't sit on shelves because there are always going to be people to buy it whether they're just plain dumb, scared by circumstances around them, they need it, or just have too much money and want to blow it. I currently load almost every caliber I shoot. I don't have the stuff to do 9x18mm yet but I'm sure I'll get there eventually. Reloading is about the only economical way to fight high prices. I can load .357 Magnum for about $8 and some change (per box of 50). To buy a similar kind from the store would cost me $28.
