found all but one of the parts (one of the safety plunger's screws) and It's really close to being done, but I just broke the sear spring and need to get another one, I also need a rear sight, so hopefully I can find those tomorrow or Tuesday.

ok, it's pretty much done now, I just have to bend the new sear spring correctly, and blue the new screw. then it's on to putting the grips on, polishing up and taking some pics (this of course will all happen in the morning, it's midnight right now)

Trent, been fallowing your progress, can't wait to see your before and after pictures.

speed bump #30248 when ceremoniously installing the grip panels, being the final step in my refinishing process I find out that the screw holes on the right panel are spaced too far apart and I can only get one screw in. I have contacted the people I bought the grips from and am waiting for word back. but the good news is that the left side of the gun is finished! ::)

YES! with alittle work to the wood (scraping with a knife) I got the grip to fit, so now my new toy is complete. I'm going to take it to the range in a few minutes (along with the czak for the turkey shoot) and see how it does. I'll take some pics after I get back.

HOLY CRAP! 1911 where have you been all my life, I don't think I've ever shot a handgun that felt like that. The recoil was like someone was gently pushing on the muzzle of the gun (real smooth) and it was incredibly accurate, I ate up the center mass of a silhouette target with no problem.

That is absolutly GREAT! I love the parkerized finish and the grips are beautiful. You done good man!

Looks much nicer. The 1911 has always been my favorite pistol. I refinished my Taurus PT-1911 also. You can't beat the .45acp for stopping power in an auto.
