they didn't have scopes on them

there were some yugos that were made with a longer barrel and a longer stock that were used as sniper rifle's they use the same scope and mount that the Mosin-Nagant 91/30 snipers used they are very rare

Yea I was talking about the sniper ones, interesting though, about the Mosin scope. so the Yugo's were the only ones where some became snipers. I figured the Chinese would have done that as well

Over the weekend I picked up that crazy Syrian ammo I posted elsewhere from the guy that stumbled onto that estate sales I also mentioned in another thread.

Well I saw #65 on that thread http://northeastshooters.com/vbulletin/ ... hp?t=25819 and that is one cool scope. It actually illuminates inside so the crosshair turns red for night or low light. I also saw an sks with that type of scope on it...somewhere...really cool. I never asked about the price but I can't imagine it would be cheap. I don't understand the numbers used when describing modern scopes so I have no clue what in the world that (#65) is anyways.

its a Soviet POSP scope, they were mainly made for the Dragunovs, PSLs and some other soviet sniper rifles, they are really neat looking and have a build in range finder (made to range someone who is 5 foot 7, so it's a rough estimate) Here's what the reticle looks like http://www.binocularsmart.com/scopes/ri ... n-posp.gif

I thought about inquiring on it but I've been buying a bunch of stuff for my 1911 project so I figured what money I have left is best in the bank. ::)

oh they go (at the lowest) $99 (pretty hard to find people selling at that price) average is about $115-120

and from the looks of it (I had to reference some stuff online) its made for the "Dragunov" aka, "SVD" style mount.

I have one of those POSP scopes ... with a mount, I think, that I'd be willing to sell if you guys want one ... the Yugo that I got it for wasn't worthy of a scope, so I took it off. Let me know if there is interest ... I can dig it out of storage and take some pics ... My recollection is that it is in fine shape, though.

Norm,

Very nice looking 1954 Tula, and the price is was right for one in that condition, I would have had to have it too.

Trent

you are right it doesn't look like it's ever been fired

it looks like it's brand spanking new, the guys I bought it from said they had about 10 of them I think he said and sold all of them at the Miami show and that was the last one they had
( I guess I have it bad for SKS's)

it doesn't seem to have Cosmolin in it but has some sort of thick packing oil in it ( it's clear )
I wish I could take better pix of it

Norm,

Now thats happy, I'd be happy too if I got a deal like that, the '54's have a chromed barrel and it should last for every, mine is a '51 and doesn't have the chromed barrel, but its a beauty none the less, its a keeper for me. I don't have my Yugo 59/66 anymore, sold it on my last trip to FL. Took it shoot and sold it at the range in Port St. Joe to a guy that had to have it, so he paid for half of my Taurus PT 1911, oh, I did get to shoot the Yugo before I sold it.
