Magazines for my P-64

Post by jski »

I went online and purchased 3 mags for my pistol from Keepshooting.com. Got them and immediately went to the range to test them out. They looked identical to the original ... almost. Everyone of those supposed new P-64 mags jammed my pistol on round #1! If you look at the mouth of the mag, comparing it to the original, you'll notice the original has a wider mouth and a different shaped feeding ramp.

Are these just phonies or were they meant for a different version of the P-64? Mine was made in 1967.

Got it! They're crap, made somewhere but NOT Poland. And Oh yeah, my money's down the toilet.

OK, so who's selling the REAL Polish mags? Who's got the GOOD stuff?

Suggestions, so I don't repeat this money flush?

Just read: Which magazine is correct?

And it suggests these mags from keepshooting.com maybe for a newer pistol design?

In addition, it suggests that the older mags will work in the newer pistols but the newer mags won't work in the older pistols.

How's that even possible? If they're compatible, they're compatible both ways, no?

No they are not. There was a small redesign in 1974(? little help here guys if I am wrong) that involved the magazines. The newer designs had slighter longer feed lips and the Keep Shooting mags copy these. The older ones have shorter feed lips and will work in the later model guns but the newer mags do not work in the older guns.

Both types : 1964-1972 "old" and 1972 and up "new"
All original, all Polish, all in very good or better condition.

Zulus Welcome to the forum. What condition are the older mags in and how much are you asking?

All "old" and "new" are basically in same very good+ condition.
I sold a lot of them in recent years.
Only just one was returned two months ago, quess why ?
Buyer got "old" P-64 and received randomly "new" magazine !
So I must recheck all batches, sort and take pictures again.
P-64 "new" mags $45 ea
P-64 "old" mags $55
+ shipping

Also P-83 mags (few left only) - $75

Thanks
