My solution for the saftey

Post by jonbw »

I tied a leather strip, like soft leather, or suede of some sort, around it and tied a knot in it. I also tied a knot in the loose ends and just pull back and rotate. The saftey goes on easy and same for taking it off. Grab the leather, pull and rotate. Beats me trying to wrestle it on with my fingers.

I am the proud owner of a '45 Izhevsk M-44. I love being the guy with the loudest, flame throwing pig sticker on the line! LMAO

I've had a 1953 Polish M44 for about 8+ years, recently won an auction and now it has an older brother by a year.

Thanks Hayden, she's alittle rougher, but has the bayonet already on it. Only numbers that match are the receiver and buttplate. Need to somehow tighten up the front handguard bands. I think they got bent up when someone refinished the stock. Oh well, I'm sure she'll be a good shooter. Still need to check headspace and firing pin protrusion.

Well after looking over my options I decided to just reshape the existing bands. Used some gorilla duct tape on the jaws of the vise grips and channel locks and after some fine tuning I was done. I didn't want to get involved with pressing the front sight and bayonet lug off and on to be able to use the new ones so..... Anyone need some new bands? LOL!!
