trigger bar binding with polish iron grips
trigger bar binding with polish iron grips
Got the latest polish iron grips and put them on the p64. Immediately I notice that the trigger bar is binding against the inside of the grip. This is causing the trigger to fail to reset properly, randomly hang up, etc. You can even hear the bar squeaking in DA mode and feel it rubbing against the inside of the grip.
I have removed and put the grips back on several times exactly according to the installation video, everything is flush and clicks in place and mag drops free. Every time the trigger bar binds.
AFAICT the only way to fix this will be to dremel out material from the inside of the grip so it doesn't rub the trigger bar.

I myself have looked at and considered the " Polish Iron Grips ". They look like a good grip and I have read many posts of people highly recommending them.usagi wrote: ↑May 3rd, 2018, 1:46 am Got the latest polish iron grips and put them on the p64. I have been in contact with the fellow that manufactures them. He actually advised that I shoot the firearm without his grips first. Then, if I changed out the grips for his, I would really appreciate them.
Personally, I think you have the right idea of using a dremel to remove some material. I have been a model builder all my life and you can work wonders with a dremel. Another tool that I might consider is an XACTO knife with about a # 11 blade. You could easily remove small amounts of material with that tool. BUT !! First, I would contact " Polish Iron " and ask what their recommendation is ? They may have a different idea or perhaps even replace the grips.
I have a set of grips on order from " MARSCHAL " in Hungary. Have been on order for a few months now and hopefully will be receiving them soon. But the grips are wood with a thumb rest and I have also requested that my initials be engraved into them. Hope I like them !

Re: trigger bar binding with polish iron grips
I'm sure you know this, but the fellow that makes the Polish Iron Grips is fairly active on this sight. I hope he weighs in. My trigger bar isn't binding much, but it does squeak a bit not and then. I figured a little grease would solve the issue, but I am curious what he has to say.

Personally, I would just go on his website and email him about your concerns. He, has in the past always responded to my emails and questions.Cyndicalist wrote: ↑May 3rd, 2018, 8:21 pm I'm sure you know this, but the fellow that makes the Polish Iron Grips is fairly active on this sight. Yup, contact him. He was very helpful fguring out why my grip screw wasn't long enough (which it turned out it was a short one).
IIRC, doesn't the installation instructions say if the grip screw is tightened too much it will cause the trigger bar to bind?

Re: trigger bar binding with polish iron grips
sent mail a few days ago, waiting for a response.
the instructions talk about binding the magazine. where did you see about binding the trigger bar?
Re: trigger bar binding with polish iron grips
I had a similar problem and spoke with Russ vis e-mail and he said this was a common problem and why he’s going to a semi rigid design but he wasn’t sure they were going to become available as he still had them out being beta tested. He did offer to take them back and refund the money but unfortunately I had cut them into pieces in my frustration to get them off and no grips to return. So I’m just waiting for them to be available and I’ll get the extended mag release as well. I have a new spring pack and everything else waiting.

Re: trigger bar binding with polish iron grips
I can't find and edit my response I made a few minutes ago but I did find this in the installation instructions:
"The grip is flexible. And under normal use. And even a very hard grip. The grip will not disturb the trigger bar.
However you can disturb the trigger bar by pressing directly on that area.
This is not normal use."

Re: trigger bar binding with polish iron grips
Well all I can tell you is that’s what it does and my grip isn’t to just put the tip of my finger on the trigger to avoid touching the trigger bar that would normally be protected by hard plastic.xcc_rider wrote: ↑May 7th, 2018, 11:30 pm I can't find and edit my response I made a few minutes ago but I did find this in the installation instructions:

Re: trigger bar binding with polish iron grips
I am left handed and have the same issue. My palm of my right hand seems to apply too much pressure on the trigger bar. I'll just pick up something else when available.
Re: trigger bar binding with polish iron grips
emailed polish iron grips last friday about the problems, still no response.
Re: trigger bar binding with polish iron grips
Russ seems to be a solid guy, in the couple times we’ve communicated he might take a day or two to get back but he does get back to you. I believe he does this on the side and isn’t his primary job.
Re: trigger bar binding with polish iron grips
I've had the same experience with Russ replying fairly promptly early on. Of course, if his email or computer dies, or he's extremely busy YMMV. He really cares about customer satisfaction.
