Got my new Marschal Grips in...

Post by gman68w »

...and boy, are they a perfect fit. Got mine in paduak with the clear finish, and asked for the "Lithuanian Columns" to be engraved in the "Additional notes" section of the order form, which he got done for me at no extra cost. I especially like how the internal washer on the right side means I don't have to fiddle with the one one that came on the original set any more, and the addition of the thumbrest on the left side seems to have improved my trigger pull just a bit, maybe because it prevents me from holding my thumb so far forward.

Felt recoil's never been an issue with me with the original grips, so naturally it's not a problem with these wooden ones. The only issue I have, and it's a niggling issue, is that I'd have preferred the checkering to be a little bit sharper than it is, and let my own natural wear-and-tear gradually grind the diamonds down to a comfortable level. Make it feel like breaking in a brand new gun, you know? A brand new gun that also happens to be forty-five years old...

In any case, I'm happy with them, and can say they're well worth the wait time.

Beautiful grips, I was set on red wattle but this makes me reconsider!

Just remember that if you're getting paduak, to go with the clear finish. There's something about the wood that makes for a richer color over years of handling and use.

I made my wife a jewelry box out of paduak. Over the years, it turned almost black. It's beautiful wood and those are awesome grips.
