I just got back from my first trip to the range with my P-64. I put about 50 rounds through it and another 50 through my CZ-82. The webbing on my hand is a little red but it doesn't feel to bad. I may have to double up on the grip tape on the backstrap. The gun performed well. I had one FTF but that was the one time I didn't let the slide slam back on it's own. That info (which I learned here, of course), was correct.
I tried out 3 different kinds of ammo, Silver Bear FMJ, 92 gr. LVE FMJ and Cor Bon PowR-Ball HP's. I mixed them up (mainly to test the PowR-Ball's feeding reliability), and had no issues except the one mentioned above and that was not a PowR-Ball round BTW.
Reminder of my mods:
Changed mainspring to 18 lb (DA's still harder than I would like).
Changed the recoil spring to 20 lb (I should have ordered the 22 lb also, but didn't).
Changed firing pin spring
Put grip tape on backstrap and frontstrap.
I did grind the ends of the recoil spring to a flat taper also.
Fixed stiff safety.
Here's what I did yesterday to the safety.
Removed the safety and polished the lever (where it contacts the hole in the slide), also polished the inside of the hole in the slide. Added a small amount of powdered graphite to that same area and to the inside of the hole. I'm a piano tuner so I had some on hand already. I cut one coil off the detent spring and polished the detent a little bit. I also took a very fine diamond file (the kind used for smoothing out burrs on the edges of glass), and smoothed out the edges of the eye (they were pretty sharp). I polished the eyes a little also. Put it back together and it's much better. Still firm but it's more like my CZ-82 now.
I feel confident in carrying it now but am hoping the DA pull lightens up a little more with use.
Thanks again for all the great info guys,
Jon

Re: Range Report
Yeah, I've been carrying it for a few days now and it's very comfortable.
