New Lever Gun

Post by Duo_Z »

I got a new Marlin 1895SBL in 45-70 for Christmas this year. I've been wanting one since about 2004. My family finally got tired of me obsessing over it. :D I've put 20 rounds through it with no problems. But I will say, the inside of the receiver was finished horribly. It was full of some pretty heavy burrs and small shavings. The top rail was slightly twisted too. So before I took it out for the first time I ripped it apart and cleaned it up. The top rail is mounted with a dovetail on the front so I just tapped it over a little, so its straight now. After that it works beautifully.

Yeah, its from Remington, its kind of sad how bad some of the craftsmanship is they have.

When we found this one there was only two left in the US and that was before the current run on supplies. But they are out there, they're just a little harder to find.

That is dissappointing to hear it is made in NYS with such sloppy QC but maybe not for much longer considiering the bans that were just passed here.

I would not be surprised if they move to a more friendly state.

I would definalty call or drop them a line on it.

wooow. you have really nice one. Actually I was looking for such gun because I have bought a new home and my neighbor suggested me that I should install some security cameras and alarms but I don't think I shouldn't do it because I have gun and a dog too and i thought that both are enough for the home security, so what you people think ?

I have had an alarm with ADT for over 20 years all I can say is the 3 incidents on my street concerning home breakins were peeps who didn't have alarms. I don't live in the city either.
