Web of hand pinch mods.

Post by Johnny C »

Other than wearing a glove or getting a set of beavertail grips, what have folks done to alleviate the pinching?
I have large hands with loose web skin, and it just gets in there!

I was thinking of maybe doing a semi bob on the hammer and rounding off the hammer trench on the back.
Also I notice that when racking the slide slowly, the hammer doesnt need to actually bottom out in the hammer slot to cock properly, but it seems too bottom out when firing the pistol. Perhaps a small screw or stop of some type in the groove will prevent the bottoming out and therefore reduce the pinching action. Is this making any sense?

Just some thoughts I might try if nobody has reasons not to.

Not sure if you every did anything to your P64 or not. If you hadn't, try bobbing the hammer.

I did it to mine and like it. I don't know if it makes a whole lot of difference as I never had a problem with the web of my hand getting caught up by the hammer. There are some pictures I put on there so you can kind of see how the hammer looks when cocked. Compare it to yours and see if you think it would do what you're wanting it to do. I'd rather hack a replaceable item rather than ruining a frame by trying to drill and tap it for a screw that may or may not work.
