Grip Screw/Nut Rust

I live deep in the heart of Texas and it does get hot here! When I carry my P-64 (or S&W 642, for that matter) during the summer months, body sweat causes the grip screw and nut to rust. It's sure not easy to clean up!

Have any of you had this problem? If so, what have you done to remedy it?

Got the same problem here. One thing that we used in the desert overseas, was to clean the screws/nuts, misc parts the best we could, then use a Sentry Solutions Marine tuff-cloth. See:

Another product that we used was a micro-crystalline wax polish called Renaissance that you basically rub on and let it dry. Worked for many museums who store old firearms. Have to be careful with it as it is flammable in large amounts. It comes from the UK and is not cheap. I have had the same 200ml can for the past 10 years. I use only a little bit. Hope this helps you out.

Sgt P, that helps a lot! I will check the local stores for Tuf-Cloth. I searched for and found a source for the Renaissance Wax Polish http://www.restorationproduct.com/. $185.00 for a 3-liter can! Wow!! I'm ordering the 200ml can for $25.
