Sights???

Post by jak47 »

Anyone put new/different sights on their P64? I am NOT handy but since I've decided to use my P64 for CCW sometimes I'd really like to at least replace the front sight with something - maybe one I can see at night?

Thanks,

I put florescent white dots on mine. Used a toothpick instead of a brush so I could get nice little dots.

You need to use Acrylic paint, not enamel. The Acrylic ones even survived a cleaning with brake cleaner. However, you can simply scratch them off if you want to get rid of them or use a different color.

Thanks - those dots look great. What do I ask for at the hardware store? Acrylic florescent paint? Does it come in orange or green? White would be just fine but...

Thanks again,

I used Testors model paint from WalMart.

However, Cabelas sell special sight paint...if you want green.

Space,

Thanks a lot. I'll probably go to Wally World but here's a pic of one online. This from TESTORS looks like it would work...

BTW, I can't figure out how to get email notification when you guys respond to posts that I start or post to. I even check the "bookmark" button but I still don't receive an email. Is there a trick I'm not getting?

Hey guys, we know sights on a CZAK are pretty much like fancy hub caps on a pick up; and cosmetics on a pretty gal,--- they add a little something !!!!!!!

I've got a theory about that, now that you mention it--If i'm at point-blank range, where the vast majority of SD situations reportedly take place, and i hold my pistol at chest level squarely facing the bad guy and fire, the bullet ought to hit him at chest level too, right? Only thing is, I would rather give him a smaller target by turning to the side myself--what do ya'll think?

In a firefight standing up you will assume a slightly crouching two handed isosceles stance as a matter of survival instinct as your "battle position"

This has been proven in several police case studies.

Interesting--as a matter of instict you say? Is it best to just go with that then, or try to train yourself out of it?

Since a SD situation has a million or two possible variations and subsets of variations, then your response has a million or two possible variations as well. I doubt if you would actually use sights in that kind of a situation, but it is possible, so painting them sure won't hurt.
