NICE pistols papabear - nice grips too! Couple of questions:

Did your Rock Islands come with that finish, or is that something you did yourself?

Also, where did you get the wooden grips for the Beretta?

Eagle71,

The finish on the RIA's came that way, and I bought them both as LNIB, the lighting may give it a little different look but IMO the finish on the RIA are nice.

The grips on the Beretta came with the gun, and I believe they are Beretta grips, if you look close there is a thumb rest on them and on both sides, I like em, I can get a better grip with them being a little thicker and checkered with thumb rest compared to the original black plastic grips.

Grips on the Star BM are from Gun Grips Guys

Grips on the RIA Tactical are original grips

Grips on the RIA Commander are Laminated Red Oak

Same RIA Tactical with Gun Grip Guys grips

papa, you just bought the Bauer six months ago did't you??? I seem to remember IVORY, at least white. Who says men aren't into fashion. Looks real good. Guess what they say about The Little Black dress is true. We don't out grow our stuff and have to throw it away, and it never goes out of style.

Papa, how does the Bauer .25 shoot? Was this a copy of the .25 baby Browning pistol? I had one of the baby Brownings for years and it was great for concealment.

But as it was made for close in 3-5 meter defensive shots, it lacked expansion. I sold my baby Browning to a friend who is a Browning dealer as a trade up for my Belgian Browning Hi Power. Mr. John Moses Browning sure made some fine weapons. Sgt P.

Sgt. P. In the earlly 70's they made a round called 'The Exploder'. I some in .357, they exploded on contact with the body. It looked like a shot gun primer stuck and crimped in a large deep hollow point, expensive as hell. They made them for just about everything, had a real tough jacket like a Black talon, it cupped when the primer went off, so it was like a cookie cutter going in. Something like that could help a .25 or .32. I don't remember what happened to mine. They stopped making them about the sametime as the nylon coated 'Cop killers'. I had a 100 rds of those too, in 9mm I sold them for a pretty penny.

Yes I did, and it came with the imitation Ivory grips, one side those Ivory grips had a fair size chip missing from it, I ordered a set of Walnut checkered grips from Gun Parts and then found a set of Black Ebony that are show in the photo from Thailand, I really like the "black tie" look on the Bauer, I really don't care to own a "Pimp" gun.

Sgt P,

I've gone through 75 rds of ball ammo with this Baurer, from 10' it is very accurate, it is a tad small for my ole paws, but for a go anywhere gun and point and shoot pistol at that distance I wouldn't want to be shot with it especially in the face/head which is what I practiced with those 75 rds. For me its mainly something I pocket carry around the house and out in the yard while working or playing, its easy get to and carry, however I do have a IWB holster for it also. I also have a Beretta 950 .25 that is more to my liking for carrying everywhere I go especially in the warmer weather, I'm built more for comfort than speed these days.

Papa,
Yeah I have the same problem, my hands are huge. I carried the baby browning in a leather wallet holster that a friend in the chute shop on base made especially for the pistol. It was a good close in gun. I did have some of those brass .25 HP rounds that they finally took off the market. Believe they were remington peters cases but the heads were custom. I shot them off before I traded the baby browning.

I also had an early Beretta model 20 with the pop up barrel. Like your model 950 beretta it was deadly accurate at about 10-12 feet. I traded it off for a Beretta model 21 in .22LR as a few friends and I got together and put an order in thru Sports South and they gave us the LEO-Military discount. Never had any problems with the Beretta line, until the military M9s. I have a 92F and it is superb. It is my teaching pistol for students that want a Beretta 9mm. Sgt P.

Papa, As for the comfort thingy, aren't we all?? As for the Bauer, it's so tiny, have a problem hanging on to it?? I'm afraid I'd shoot one of my little fat fingers off. LOL!!
